A native of Montana, Chuck was raised in Harlowton graduating from high school in 1958. Even though a mediocre athlete, a talented class carried him in several sports. He entered Montana State College as a walk-on rodeo cowboy where he got to know legendary athletic trainer Marshall Cook, later interning under his mentorship while attending graduate school. He taught science and coached jr. high basketball at Ennis from 63-65. Graduating in 1967 from Montana State University with a MS, he taught anatomy and physiology at Dickinson State in ND. He returned to The Bobcats in 1968 as the athletic trainer, a position he enjoyed immensely until 2001. He was responsible for overseeing the health care of athletes in all sports. Residing south of Bozeman with his wife Janie, they have a daughter JoAnne and a granddaughter Lauryn.
